Back40’s soft and cozy toques, headbands and scarves are available in two lines – a Classic Line and a Luxe Line made from 100% natural, sustainable Merino or Peruvian wool.

Meet the Maker

Back40 Designs is inspired by owner and maker Tyra’s love of the outdoors. Tyra loves getting out and exploring nature with her family, especially her young son. They live on an acreage in the beautiful Comox Valley that is home to horses, cows, chickens, dogs, cats and a revolving mix of wildlife – all making her “Back 40” her favorite place to be. A mild obsession with cute hats when her son was born grew as he did, and eventually led to her creating her own toques. She makes all the items by hand – including those amazing pompoms! – with much care and attention to detail and loves seeing her customers and their kids out and about wearing her creations.
