There are two studio spaces, one for pottery and the other for painting. Yvonne and Al host Art Retreats, where guests can engage in painting media, drawing or the ceramic arts.
Painter, author, potter Yvonne Maximchuk brings her enormous creative energy to all she undertakes. Her home and studio were carved out of the wilderness on Gilford Island BC, where she and husband Al milled the wood for and built their ‘craftsman’ style home. She is very well known, well loved, and established artist.
While not working on the house and extensive gardens Yvonne and Al both create porcelain ceramic dinnerware. Yvonne’s watercolour and acrylic paintings are inspired by the sea-bound wilderness habitat surrounding their home. They welcome visitors to their home studio and invite you to see their work at Vancouver Island galleries and show/sale venues.
Yvonne has also written two books – one is a colouring book titled ‘Colour the British Columbia Coast’ (published by Harbour Publishing), and the other is her autobiography, titled ‘Drawn to Sea’ (published by Caitlin Press), about homesteading on Gilford Island and carving out a life on BC’s Rugged Raincoast. These are available at many independent book stores and also from the publisher.
SeaRose studio accepts commissions with pleasure and enthusiasm for paintings of your favourite scene or vision, for pottery bowls with raven or other motifs, mermaid mugs etc.
