Jackie Hildering (AKA The Marine Detective), is a biology teacher, cold-water diver, underwater photographer, and Humpback Whale researcher living on NE Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada.
The Marine Detective works to raise awareness about life in the cold, dark NE Pacific Ocean and illuminate the fragility, beauty, and mystery there. Jackie wants to share what she learns so that it may lead to greater knowledge, appreciation, and positive action for the Ocean to which we are all connected and upon which our health depends.
Jackie’s incredible, eye-catching images are available to purchase as prints on Canvas or Metal from her website. Many of her images are also included in her stunning wall calendar (also available online).
Our favourite though is her Find the Fish book. This super fun and educational eye-spy style book is the “Where’s Waldo” of the fish world! This book is essential if you have young children, a great learning resource for both kids and adults alike to really be able to appreciate our underwater world off the coasts of Vancouver Island.
